We
are always available for events around the
Cambridge area, and with a bit of
notice and expenses will travel just about
anywhere.
Plenty of notice is quite important,
especially for sally.
The U.V. effect is achieved
by painting with fluorescent water based
make-up, and "bringing it alive" with ultra
violet light.
We can not stress enough
that anyone wishing to hire us to paint at their
party should consult us or get their lighting
people to talk with us, before the party,
to make sure the light levels are sufficient to
illuminate the make-up.
U.V. is about the cheapest
lighting effect you can get, so it is
really not expensive to get this right, but it
is a real waste of everybody’s time if it's
not.
For performers, on stage,
it is important to realise that U.V. tubes use
about 40w of power each and throw light about 6
to 10 feet, (3 metres). U.V. floodlights ("
cannons" ) use an initial 2,000w to start up,
just for about a minute, (that's only the same
as an electric kettle, but it has been known to
cause problems in venues with poor wiring, or at
outside parties which rely on little generators
for power.) The tubes then run on 400w and throw
a good spread of light about 20-25 feet ( 8
metres)
We have 4 protected U.V. tubes which provide
a well lit area for us to work in and 2
floodlights. There are some superb U.V. lights
available called fireflies which generate lovely
soft U.V. light for about 100-150 foot (35
metres) perfect for performers, or for very large venues.)
